Some of you may remember and a lot of you probably don't but around this time, 1 year ago Australian Freighters was opened. Yep today is AF's 1st of many birthdays.
A very brief story of Australian Freighters so far.
The idea first came to mind when I and a few others realised that there wasn't really any virtual trucking company or forum that was based on Australian truck driving. There seemed to be a large number of Australians appearing on other American forums and so I decided to ask around and see how many Australian would support the idea. A few weeks later on the 21st of October 2008 I opened Australian Freighters with the support of a few other people.
We went through many changes with dispatch, logbooks, bank accounts, pay systems and plenty more over the year. We've had many drivers come, and go, a few staff members come and go. I still remember the first pack which consisted of the flatbeds and a blue painted SAR with white wheels.
After 9 months of consistent work from staff members and drivers together, I realised that we had something pretty darn good going on here at Australian Freighters. We had become one of the largest virtual trucking companies in the world, in possibly the shortest amount of time. We had 30 drivers doing 60 plus hours a week. I reckon that it was something only achievable by a bunch of Australians.
After approximately 10 months and some hard work put in by members and staff members, I realised that we had pretty much modified every part possible of our forum. I would think that it is the best looking proboards VTC alive. I wanted to take Australian Freighters further because I believe we can even though we are a small group of mates. Unfortunately after some editing of the forum we came across a few dramas causing us to close. Knowing this, staff members and I decided to keep the company closed until the release of Extreme Trucker. This brings us up to our current day in this short story.
I apologies for not using names in my story above, there were just so many and I think you all know who you are. I would like thank everyone who has been a part of Australian Freighters over the past year. Without all your fellas, AF would not stand today. Jaiden and I really appreciate all your hard work towards the forum and community; you fellas make it what it is today. I know I have made many mates so far and I hope you all have too. I hope to make many more in the future. There is much more I could add but I only wanted it to be a short story.
So as a Happy 1st Birthday for Australian Freighters and all of its loyal mates from the past a present, I am excited to announce the opening of the new Australian Freighters forum!
The forum is still under construction so expect some major changes in the near future.
Thanks for your patience,
digit
